Dave Tucker - Percussion About me, In addition to being the drummer for 3DW I am a Computer Science professor at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania which I know is a strange combination. As my friend Marc likes to say "The cardinality of the intersection of the set of rock drummers and the set of computer science professors is no doubt 1." What?! If you're really board you can check out my University web site. If you're curious about what I use: I have a 5-piece set of Pearl maple shell vintage standard drums, black,
constructed around the mid 80's. Currently on them are Remo hydraulic
pinstripes on the toms and coated remo ambassador on the snare. As a side
note, I also use Aquarian dampening rings, these really made a very nice
difference in removing the overtones. For the bass I just put on Evans
EMAD2 batter bass head and the Evans EMAD Resonant Bass Drumhead, ported.
For the cymbals I have 14" Zildjian high-hats, 18" Zildjian Rock crash,
16" Zildjian Rock crash
and a 20" Zildjian medium ride. Hardware is Yamaha & Pearl. I also
like to use a Latin Percussion high-pitch Jam Block (Blue) and Latin Percussion
Black Beauty Cow Bell. In addition I use Latin Percussion Aspire
Congas and Latin Percussion Aspire bongos. When playing out, Craig, the
guitar player, uses these on occasion, even using mallets for the congas and
playing his guitar. For drumsticks I prefer Regal Tip, either Rock or 7A
depending on the volume I want to generate. Lately I've been breaking
these but for the most part are very nice.
